It is estimated that around 1/3 of people who have died and come back, often those who suffer a cardiac arrest report what is called a Near Death Experience. The term was coined by Dr. Raymond Moody in 1975 in his book Life After Life. In this book Dr. Moody recorded and also compared the experiences of 150 people who were clinically dead or almost dead and recovered and came back to life.

You cannot mention NDE's without Raymond Moody in the same sentence. As the description says, Brinkley supposedly died twice. He has worked with Raymond Moody in the past who was fascinated and impressed by the accounts he has given. Brinkley however is a controversial figure with many doubting his claims and finding inconsistencies with his stories. On the more controversial side, Brinkley claimed to have received a number of prophecies during his NDE's which were later said to have come true. He also claimed that his NDEs gave him the gift of telepathy. If you are into spirituality and want to hear from a person who has had an NDE, then you will really enjoy this book. I found parts of it difficult to read as some of it seemed a little fantastic for me, however, it was well written in a story format and I also found it oddly comforting giving a perspective on a topic I couldn't possibly know so who am I to question it? Regardless of if you believe or not, it was still a very interesting read.

As the description above states, this was the inspiration for the Netflix hit Surviving Death series. I originally watched the series and then found out it was based on this very book so I ran out and bought it straight away. It doesn't cover NDEs exclusively however there is a section of the book dedicated to this much like the series. It covers other areas as well and is so incredibly well researched and written that I would recommend it as a must-have book for everyone's library. If you enjoyed the Netflix series you will LOVE this book.
