If you follow my page, you know that I am a big enthusiast when it comes to Tarot. I collect anything and everything Tarot while I am also learning to read for myself. I am not a professional Tarot reader or anything like that, I am just someone that appreciates the self-reflection that comes with Tarot and how it often combines with pop culture or themes that resonate with me. One of the biggest myths out there is that you can't buy your own tarot deck and that it must be given to you. Well, you are probably going to be waiting for a long time! Years ago I was told this by a friend who read tarot when I expressed how I wanted to learn and buy a deck. I dropped many hints to many different people and months later I still had no deck. So I went and purchased my first deck which soon grew to me purchasing a new deck every fortnight. I used to just buy exclusively tarot but also started to buy oracle cards as well. The artwork speaks to me and while some decks I have just to have them, others often rotate through my card of the day board that I use. There is no right or wrong way to collect tarot cards. If you want to buy a deck to just have it then go do it! If you want to buy a new deck to read with, go get that! Tarot is incredibly personal as it requires you to look within yourself so you need to have some form of connection with the cards. If it is just you think the artwork is pretty or it is a themed deck from an indie artist or even a television show or classic movie that you like; if you feel that connection, treat yourself!
With that being said, I have been searching through the catalogues, and here are the decks & journals I am a bit excited about for 2021!
Join the hunt for answers with this collectible Supernatural tarot deck and guidebook, featuring Sam and Dean Winchester, their friends, their enemies, and all the angels, demons, ghosts, and monsters of the hit TV series.
The long-running television series Supernatural is now an illustrated tarot deck! Featuring original artwork inspired by classic tarot iconography, the 78-card deck includes all your favorite characters from Sam and Dean to Bobby Singer to Castiel to Crowley. The deck also comes with a helpful guidebook explaining the meaning of each card as well as a few simple spreads for easy readings. It’s the perfect gift for Supernatural fans and tarot enthusiasts alike!
I mean it is really no surprise with the popularity and cult-like status that this show has reached over the past decade that this would eventuate. The series wrapped up just recently so this is purely something for the fans, and there are a lot of them. Even the casual viewer that has an interest in tarot can't help but be drawn here. Whether you just want to see which characters have been associated with the major arcana (one of my favourite games to play with a new 'niche' deck) or you feel this is your new deck, this will be a popular one! Though it likely won't be one that professional readers use with their clients, if you have a connection with the show, it could be the perfect deck to start you on your tarot journey.
Use these cards to share sacred space with the goddess Kali in her many forms as you directly experience her transformative grace and alchemical power. With the empowering insight of bestselling Alana Fairchild and the striking imagery of Jimmy Manton, this unique oracle set is an offering of guidance, clarity, and healing that invokes unconditional love, divine blessing, and authentic spiritual unfoldment. Be held in the glory of her being and behold your destiny as you dance, revel, and rejoice in the presence of the Great Mother.
I can't help but be drawn by the amazing and powerful imagery of the goddess. If these images speak to you, this could be the daily oracle you need to get through your day. This is already rated as a number 1 best seller before release so it already seemes to be speaking loudly to many.
A new spin on the classic Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot, this deck has been created with a linen-finish and antiqued look for readers who want a more historical feel. Selectively colored figures and objects are set in an aged background, giving these cards a broken-in, well-used appearance―a preferred patina for many tarotists. Using the pictorial key of the original RWS deck, this is a perfect reading deck for times when you want to feel vintage tarot vibes.
For me, nothing beats the original rider waite imagery. I have about 4 decks dedicated to the original (one jumbo size) so this vintage-style collection is a must-have for me. This is the most popular style of reading of tarot and often if you take a tarot course, it is the rider waite deck that they teach with. The images are intricately detailed that they are quite easy to learn from. Even if you don't know the meanings of the cards by heart, analyzing the details within the images is often enough to get you started. This is a fun variation on the original without losing any of this, in fact, it could even add to each card!
Disney’s most iconic villains have taken over tarot in this dastardly take on a traditional 78-card deck. Featuring the notorious ne’er-do-wells from classic animated films like 101 Dalmations, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and more, this tarot deck reimagines Cruella de Vil, Ursula, Maleficent and the whole motley crew in original illustrations based on classic tarot iconography.
Including both the Major and Minor Arcana, the set also comes with a helpful guidebook with explanations of each card’s meaning, as well as simple spreads for easy readings. Packaged in a sturdy, decorative gift box, this devious deck of tarot cards is the perfect gift for Disney fans and tarot enthusiasts everywhere.
I mean who doesn't love Disney? This is really just one of the ones I was talking about that will likely just sit happily in my collection. I will enjoy playing the game to see which villain is given which character in the major arcana and it won't get much more use on my end beyond that. For me, this is more a collector's item but this could be a fun present for someone who loves Disney or to even help guide or teach someone younger wanting to get into tarot.

A planner, tarot tracker or journal is a great way to get in touch with your inner side while learning tarot along the way. You can simply buy a pretty journal and write down your interpretations of the cards and track your readings. There are also some on the market that lay all of this out for you. Biddy Tarot is probably one of the most popular platforms that can assist you. With free information online, they also release a yearly planner to help you along your way. I have chosen this one because I have learnt much of what I know about tarot from biddy tarot.
Keeping a record of Tarot readings to plot your growth over a year can be daunting. Includes quick and easy traditional Tarot card meanings to help interpret your journey.
If you are like me and you like a little more extravagance with your journals, this is a hardcover workbook that can help with your planning. Feedback on this one is that it is more of a workbook and suits people who are more beginners rather than advanced readers but it is still something you can make your own! I have mine on order so will post up some photos when it arrives!
Using my "Beetlejuice handbook for the recently deceased novelty journal", I created my own reference book with a cheap gift card deck of cards based on rider waite that I bought from Ishka for $6.99 and wrote down the official meaning of each card as well as my own feelings. (I got the meanings from Biddy Tarot) I refer to it on a daily basis and will now be using a planner to document my readings which can help me further.
The Astrological Planner is back for 2021. The future is here and we are at a turning point. What better time to stay in tune with the cosmos as we embark on our journey together.
We hold the earth very close to our hearts, we know deeper connection to the stars and our beautiful planet hurtling through space creates ripple effects of consolidation and healing, as everything is interconnected. As above, so below, as within, so without.
The 2021 Astrological Planner is a powerful tool for creating magic and living in alignment with the cosmos. You do not need to know astrology to own this planner, but it is suitable for beginner to advanced astrologers.
Anyone with an interest in the moon and natural cycles can benefit from following the energies of each day and the elements that underpin our entire existence.
By general exposure to astrology you will start to tune in to the feelings of the moon and planets, making it a great teaching tool, from embodied heart-felt experience to intellectualisation – the best way to learn. It can be as simple or in-depth as you want to make it, it is only limited to your imagination.
With many improvements to quality, materials used, shipping, packaging, production process and our carbon footprint, we bring an all round improved 2021 planner with some new surprises.
I purchased one of these about a month ago when they came out. It has so much information with astrology charts, moon cycles, etc all linked up to the 2021 calendar in your time zone. It is available in black and white and it is honestly just stunning. I am planning to use the information to help with my paranormal research, but really, as soon as I saw this I fell in love and had to buy it. It is sold out in many local Australian stockists but can be bought from the original supplier online. There is also an A5 pocket version which is available that fits in your handbag. There are different versions of this based on your timezone so make sure if you are purchasing a copy that it is your local timezone. For Australia for example, you want the AEST Time Zone. If it is just the cover you are drawn to, there is a vegan leather lined journal available as well! I got mine from Muses of Mystery here in Melbourne.
So these are the picks that I have to have! A second list will likely come later in the year as more are released and I also use this as an invitation to tell me about the decks you are excited about! There are so many amazing indie artists out there that create kickstarter campaigns or even just print and custom make their own tarot decks, so if there are any you know of, please send me links so I can look at including them for the second list! I usually find mine through etsy so keep a look out!
Which tarot decks are you excited about?
* I am not an amazon affiliate and I do not receive commissions or free products to advertise these items from the distributors or authors. These are really just the decks and journals that I have already bought with my own money or I am looking to buy in 2021
