MORE Tarot Decks to get excited about in 2021

As we approach the second half of 2021, I have taken another look at some new Tarot decks hitting soon as well as some up and coming indie tarot designers!

At the end of 2020, I wrote an article Tarot Decks to get excited about in 2021. We are now halfway through 2021, so I thought it was time to do a bit of an update as I have found many more fabulous decks and tarot related items I feel the need to share with you!  I am not a paid affiliate, in fact, I don't even know a lot of the creators, I just appreciate the products and am sharing my excitement with you!

If you follow my page, you know that I am a big enthusiast when it comes to Tarot.  I collect anything and everything Tarot while I am also learning to read for myself.  I am not a professional Tarot reader or anything like that, I am just someone that appreciates the self-reflection that comes with Tarot and how it often combines with pop culture or themes that resonate with me.  One of the biggest myths out there is that you can't buy your own tarot deck and that it must be given to you.  Well, you are probably going to be waiting for a long time!  Years ago I was told this by a friend who read tarot when I expressed how I wanted to learn and buy a deck.  I dropped many hints to many different people and months later I still had no deck.  So I went and purchased my first deck which soon grew to me purchasing a new deck every fortnight.  I used to just buy exclusively tarot but also started to buy oracle cards as well.  The artwork speaks to me and while some decks I have just to have them, others often rotate through my card of the day board that I use.  There is no right or wrong way to collect tarot cards.  If you want to buy a deck to just have it then go do it!  If you want to buy a new deck to read with, go get that!  Tarot is incredibly personal as it requires you to look within yourself so you need to have some form of connection with the cards.  If it is just you think the artwork is pretty or it is a themed deck from an indie artist or even a television show or classic movie that you like; if you feel that connection, treat yourself!

With that being said, I have been searching through the catalogues, and here are the decks I am a bit excited about for 2021!

Labyrinth Tarot Deck and Guidebook | Movie Tarot Deck – August 17, 2021

Let Jareth, Sarah, Hoggle, and other beloved characters from Jim Henson's Labyrinth guide your tarot practice with the official Labyrinth Tarot Deck.

Characters from Jim Henson’s beloved classic Labyrinth try their hand at tarot in this whimsical take on a traditional 78-card tarot deck, which reimagines Jareth, Sarah, Hoggle, and other denizens of Goblin City in original illustrations based on classic tarot iconography. Featuring both the Major and Minor Arcana, the set also comes with a helpful guidebook with explanations of each card’s meaning, as well as simple spreads for easy readings. Packaged in a sturdy, decorative gift box, this stunning deck of tarot cards is the perfect gift for Labyrinth fans and tarot enthusiasts everywhere.

Look if I am being honest, I am not really into Labyrinth, but I know so many people that are.  Given that at the time of writing is already number 1 on the Amazon best sellers list and it doesn't come out for another few months, I think a lot of people are going to want this one so even though I likely won't pick it up, a few you of you will and that means it is on the list!

The Sugar Skull Tarot Deck and Guidebook (Sugar Skull Tarot Series) – September 28, 2021

This light-hearted, beautifully illustrated deck and guidebook brings the spiritual mysticism of sugar skulls to a fresh interpretation of each of the major and minor arcana to help you hone your intuition.

Sugar skulls, or calaveras, are traditionally made by hand to celebrate the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead, or Dia de Muertos. Colorful and lovingly crafted, they are offerings for loved ones who have passed into the spirit realm.

The sugar skulls depicted throughout this deck are there to remind us of our spiritual journey and help us reach our full potential. Just as the Fool progresses throughout the entirety of the Major Arcana, we all have our own personal journeys that are represented through the tarot.

Whether it’s the Magician shooting the sugar skull bullseye, the High Priestess seeing her reflection in the water (thus revealing her inner truth in the form of a sugar skull), or the Fool feeling confident that he will create and manifest the perfect sugar skull by the time he finishes his journey, we all have an unrealized version of our true potential. The Sugar Skull Tarot Deck and Guidebook offers a refreshing new take on a timeless tradition and is the perfect tool to recognize the inner potential inside each of us. Let the brightly colored illustrations offer you all the inspiration you need to be the best person you can truly be so you can present a more accurate representation of yourself—confident, magical, and ready to give and receive love—to the world.

Who doesn't love sugar skulls?  For me, the artwork looks really colour and fun, something I love when it comes to tarot.  If you love sugar skulls, which I am sure many of you do, you will probably want to pick this one up!

The Macabre Tarot  – 1 September 2021

Are you ready to let your skin crawl? Are you ready to get lost in the night? Are you ready to embrace everything that lives in the shadows? Step into the darkness and release your fears. While colour is good, I also like the darker themed decks and well.  This one has piqued my interest just from the unique box design itself.

The indies

I need to give a shout out to some of the indie creators as well.  They don't have the same distribution or reach as a lot of the published decks do, but that doesn't mean they don't have an amazing product.  In fact, sometimes it is so much better as you are getting products made with pure love and care.  While they can be more expensive, don't let this be a deterrent.  The quality is always top-notch and you are also supporting an artist!  Here are some indie decks you should check out

The wandering moon tarot

I discovered Rachel on Instagram and was delighted to find that she is based in Geelong here in Australia so I feel it is a must to give her a shout out.  She has just launched her first tarot deck and is also working on an accompanying oracle deck as well.

A completely hand drawn tarot deck, funded in just 35 minutes on Kickstarter in January 2021 ????
